Heliconia Takes Centre Stage On Your Dining Table  

Not unlike the Bird of Paradise, its exotic shape alludes to the mysterious treasures that can be found in our tropical rainforests. All over the world, floral arrangements using the heliconia as the main theme never cease to capture the onlooker's imagination and wonder. It is a large flower, thus usually seen only in large displays and rarely used for smaller floral arrangements such as the centerpiece on our dining room table at home. To dispel this notion, we visit the New World Renaissance Hotel and meet with Sylvia Lai, the hotel's florist manager. Sylvia will show us how to make a small and luscious arrangement using the yellow upright Heliconia teamed up with the small, vibrantly red anthuriums.
